This is the section of the site where you will find all the Bearne family tree information.

We have upgraded to what we feel is a more effective application, PhpGedView. Hopefully you will find this relatively easy to use and it gives access to a great deal more information, as well as offering a huge range of possible charts and reports.

Key To Icons

You will see the following icons forming a navigation bar towards the top of the genealogy pages:

Home Icon This button will take you back to the public homepage for the genealogy section of the site.

MyGedView Icon This button will take you to your personalised homepage (only relevant for people who have registered for an account).

Charts Icon Provides a dropdown menu of the charts available.

Lists Icon Provides a dropdown menu of lists - these include individual names, families, sources and places. This may offer one way of looking for someone.

Calendar Icon The anniversary calendar has day, month and year views for events related to individuals within the tree.

Reports Icon Offers a range of reports for download.

Help Icon A comprehensive 'Help' resource for PhpGedView. Wherever you see this 'Help' icon within the site, you can also get contextual help.

The other icons and functions should be fairly self-evident.

Searching

For a basic search, you will need to use the search box next to the flags to search the genealogy database. The other search box currently searches the rest of the site, though Paul is working on this!

Search Icon A more advanced set of searches is available from the search icon on the navigation bar.

Charts

The charts available really are quite fascinating - in many cases you have the ability to change the complexity and amount of information included and to view the same information in a variety of ways.

For example, there is the traditional Pedigree Chart.

There are also Circle Diagrams

and Hourglass Charts,

both of which can give you a whole new perspective.

Important note:

Unless you go to a specific individual, these charts will focus on Lewis Bearne (born 1821) if you are a visitor or on you if you are logged in and set up as a user.

To focus on someone else, first search for the person you are interested in and go to their individual record. Then use the Options for Individual navigation towards the top right of your screen to access charts, reports etc for this person.

If you use the main navigation you will find yourself back at the default individual!

Graphic of Family Tree

We will be bringing the graphic version of the family tree back - when we can cobble together the procesing power to get it into an appropriate format (it's getting pretty big). A numer of people have asked about this over the last year or so.

We hope you enjoy exploring these pages - please do contact us with any feedback you wish to give.
